FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Which seal kit fits my fork?
Measure stanchion diameter using a caliper, in most cases that's all you need. Consult our public Forks <-> Seals Chart ↗ — a reference we have created by reengineering with ~800 fork entries — to find your model and matching seal kit.
Do you ship worldwide?
Yes. We ship to all EU countries and internationally. Standard EU shipping takes 3–5 business days. International shipping takes 7–14 business days depending on destination. Tracking is included on all orders. See our Shipping & Delivery page for rates and details.
What is your return policy?
Unused, unopened parts can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Open a ticket including the order number & date of purchase.

Custom productions we don't take back as these have been arranged for you only. Sorry.

Return shipping costs are the buyer's responsibility unless the item was wrongly sold by us or defective. We have the right to correct our order as usual, if we failed in something.

Usually we have an open ear for customers' requests. Be smart.
Are your seal kits OEM or aftermarket?
All our seal kits are manufactured to OEM specifications with same dimensions as the original Marzocchi parts using up to date manufacturing processes and materials. They are not Marzocchi-branded (Marzocchi no longer manufactures these parts) but are dimensionally identical replacements.
I'm searching for a seal kit, but I can't find my fork model. What should I do?
Consult our public Forks <-> Seals Chart ↗ — a reference we have created by reengineering with ~800 fork entries — to find your model and matching seal kit. We regularly add new models and may have compatible parts not yet listed. Many early-90s forks also share seal dimensions across model years.
How can I find my fork's year?
The year is stamped in 2-digits in the inner bottom of the lowers. Take that number + 1 and you have the year.
Can I order by phone or email?
We currently only process orders through the online shop. If you have trouble placing an order, open a ticket and we will assist you.
How do I know my stanchion diameter?
The stanchion is the upper (inner) tube of the fork leg. Measure its outer diameter with a calliper. Common sizes for Marzocchi forks are 24mm, 26mm, 28mm, 30mm, 32mm, 35mm, 38mm and 40mm. The fork model spec sheet or the fork crown casting often states the diameter.
I installed a new seal kit but the fork is still leaking!
If you have done everything right, that's nearly impossible. Check you have the right side up for the oil seals. Make sure you used a proper oil seal insertion tool to vertically press the seal into its seat — if you don't, the metal skeleton will bend and the seal will leak. Also never re-use a seal you have already pressed in, as it will be bent from taking it out.
Do seal kits include dust wipers?
Yes, all our kits include both 2 inner oil seals and 2 outer dust wipers (also called dust seals or scrapers). All kits also include a SAG ring. Kit contents are listed on each product page.
Where can I find Marzocchi documentation?
We maintain a public Marzocchi Documentation Repository with service manuals, exploded drawings, parts catalogs, period advertisements and posters — the largest collection online. Browse it at public-repository.org ↗.
What's the best way to take care of my fork?
After every bike ride, rinse off the dirt using a garden hose, without applying pressure. Compress the fork a few times and remove the small ring of dirt with an oiled cloth; repeat this process 2-3 times. Regulary check air pressure and oil leve!
What happens to customers being rude?
They're out. No more support. Go on your way.
What Seal Kit Sizes are available for older Marzocchi Forks?
=> 24m, 26mm, 30mm, 32mm 35mm, 38mm, 40mm. Each seal kit has 2 oil & 2 dust seals. 30 and 32mm have each 2 variants in outer dust seal : classic style flanged (with edge aournd) and m-arch. Marzocchi made also 28mm seal kits. We don't mad them, as there is almost no requests.
Why are your prices to high?
They are not. What I'm doing os low quantity prodcutions, often 1-5 parts in CNC, may be 20-40 for a fut nut or some n * 100' in seals. This is _very_ costs intensive. I'm for sure not Amazon, selling millions of parts and sponsoring shipping with the overmoney they earn from cloud business AWS.
Why shipping costs are so high?
They are not. That's standard DHL shipping as I don't get lot's of discount for my number of packages, sorry. And I need to be shipped insured & tracked or users getting mad. You can check costs in the net yoourself at https://dhl.de, it is all about 2kg 'Paket'.
Why are you doing all this things about Marzocchi?
Because I can do it and I like to do it. Just do it.
What Marzocchi fork are you riding?
I started with a silver XC600 and rode it many years. I also had bikes with red XC700, red DH3, orange Z1 1997 100, orange Z1 BAM 130 1999, Shiver DC 2002, 66 and 888. My daily Verlicchi Sintesi Bromont still has the Z1 BAM 130 mounted.

Troubleshooting

Typical Fork Problems

Common symptoms, likely causes and how to fix them.

Problem Diagnosis Solution
Fork has too much sag Spring rate too soft, spring rate too low (wrong spring for your weight) Add spring preload · Change to stiffer spring rate · get a correct spring
Fork bottoms too easily · needs more than max preload to reach sag Spring rate too soft · fork oil too low Check oil height · Get stiffer springs · Increase air pressure
Fork bottoms too easily, but has recommended sag Not enough compression damping Increase compression damping by changing oil level
Fork does not get full travel Spring rate too stiff · fork oil too high · spacers inserted Check oil height · Get softer spring · Decrease air pressure · take spacers out
Fork extends too quickly · harsh top-out after impacts Not enough rebound damping · oil level low Increase rebound damping · Replace oil (SAE 7.5) with higher viscosity · fill correct oil level
Front wheel wants to tuck under while cornering Too much rebound · dampingspring rate too soft Decrease rebound damping · Increase spring rate
Fork "packs up" or stays down during multiple impacts Too much rebound damping · bushings/stanchions friction Decrease rebound damping · calibrate bushings
Knocking sound during rebound, but no harsh top-out Too much rebound damping · oil level wrong Decrease rebound damping · check oil level
Oil "ring" on stanchions Oil seals are contaminated ⚠ A small oil film is o.k and usefull, if it is more replace all seals, check fork inner details — repair the fork before riding again
Heavy oil on stanchions · oil dripping down legs Seals damaged · stanchions may also be damaged ⚠ Replace all seals + have stanchions inspected before riding again · stop riding : You are polluting the environment!!
Fork is sticky · does not perform as new Oil seals contaminated · fork needs servicing ⚠ Replace all seals — repair the fork before riding again · check bushings/stanchion friction -> you may need callibration
Oil leakage from the bottom Loose bottom nut or bottom nut O-ring damaged Tighten bottom nut · Replace bottom nut O-ring
Loss of sensitivity Worn sliding bushings or old oil ⚠ Replace sliding bushings · Change oil

Maintenance

Recommended Maintenance Intervals

From the official Marzocchi Bomber Owners Manual 2003, but so far valid. Maintenance requirements may depend on your biking style, intensity and your location.

Operation Intense use Normal use
Stanchion + dust seal cleaning After every ride After every ride
Oil leaking check Before & after every ride Before & after every ride
Air pressure check Before every ride Every 10 hours
Oil check / change Every 50 hours Every 100 hours
Oil seals replacement Every 100 hours Every 200 hours
